Assimilate

While I am ruminating through thoughts on a topic, I stumbled upon a "word of the day" post idea. So, in turn, I will try this and see how it works. Well, whenever I think of assimilation I think of adjusting or understanding something(s) to a full extent. It may sound like a stretch but hope it works. Definition here: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/assimilate Whenever we assimilate, it makes us think of how we must adjust to changes that either affect or transcend into our routines or norms. The norms or routines may be something we are used to, or we look to acclimate to something that is new that we want to set as a routine. Perhaps, assimilation is not a bad thing because what it could do is shape how we confront issues, the ones that we may dislike to a full degree. Additionally, it could shape a new level of maturity for us; to develop a new mindset of how to resolve issues or problems that seem unpleasant. One thing may be certain is that assimilation...

Save Me -- Original Poem

Written September 6, 2015 Save me from the travesty Save me from the capacity My mind roams to the maximum As stress infiltrates the mind I need all the time to breathe And serenity so all I can see Is what I'm blessed with in front of me I am my own destiny But help me to save me from devastation Save me from me, myself and I Save me from giving up on the only thing that matters: life Save me for the sanity of life Please save me "Me, myself and I" was sampled by "Me, Myself and I" by Beyoncé

Imperfectly Perfect -- Original poem

Here is poem I thought of on a whim. It's quite fitting considering the title. 😊 Scars, bruises, scratches that align the arms -- they should on display Nervously smile as people stare with judgment, but yet understand fully They realize their scars and all on their bodies , realizing their self-consciousness too These scars and imperfections are some things that never fade -- they alter our perspectives Seeing smooth skin and flawless hair that flows seems surreal  It's imperfectly perfect to some, but others think it's impossible Seeing white and grey hairs growing in your hair, eyeglasses and scars on the skin   Imperfectly perfect Be imperfectly perfect by your speech , walk , sight , smell , whatever you have, you own it Own that you're imperfectly perfect Live happily in your skin ; your laugh , your voice is yours  Never blame yourself for you -- imperfectly perfect Be happy,  be you ... imperfectly perfect

Yearn -- Original poem

Written July 3, 2015 "Yearn" Seek the truth; don't let go Stay focused on the motive of happiness  Never feel influenced by misunderstanding  Yearn for the motivation in your lives It runs as a catalyst -- ongoing rhythm Never lose sight of the catalyst; it shall beat the heart forever Yearn to seek happiness Never let go of what makes you the genuine you Never let it go Yearn

An Opinion: #TheResistance

As we know, via social media and rallies on the streets, since the 2016 presidential election there has been an invincible upsurge of people uniting for a patriotic cause in the United States. This cause has been televised, re-tweeted, liked, publicized, criticized by many of those who either agree or hate it. The resistance: An up rise that implode among the masses of Americans who felt cheated and dismayed by the results of the 2016 presidential election. Well, considering cheated and dismayed  sound like timid, soft words to describe the rebuttal against Donald Trump has been difficult to fathom for many Americans. Despondent and disheartened fit the description of the overwhelming shock millions feel months later. Undoubtedly, with the resistance, it has really shown such an outcry of millions of patriotic and devoted Americans who want to uphold the sanctity of our nation's values and, most importantly, it democracy. With the resistance it seems that democracy will not subs...

Open Message

Lately, politics have consumed my life to points of obsession and unhealthiness, in which it has affected me because I let it affect me. Moreover, I blame myself for doing so. However, when writing this message, courtesy of the UltraViolet Action website, I felt a release of frustration and anger that was necessitated by this recent election and my pent up feelings that I had repressed for so long. Apparently my message will be posted on a postcard that will be sent to Speaker Ryan in five days. Well, I feel that he may not read the message, but I felt validated enough to write it. Just to mention, I am not a political expert or commentator, nor will I ever be confident to do so because I do not have the confidence and tenacity, as do those who succeed at it. Anyway, I know that I might receive backlash and criticism for this post, but I am sure that with the opinions on social media, this post may not present as much of an impact. In which, I admire people who are able to feel libera...

Serenity -- An Original Poem

Breathe -- feel free from pain Let the mind rest from stress Feel at one in the mind Think openly to the world Let stress subside; Stress collides with energy  Energy attracts to serenity It warms the air -- less dense the stress Serenity is needed to feel free
