Open Message

Lately, politics have consumed my life to points of obsession and unhealthiness, in which it has affected me because I let it affect me. Moreover, I blame myself for doing so. However, when writing this message, courtesy of the UltraViolet Action website, I felt a release of frustration and anger that was necessitated by this recent election and my pent up feelings that I had repressed for so long. Apparently my message will be posted on a postcard that will be sent to Speaker Ryan in five days. Well, I feel that he may not read the message, but I felt validated enough to write it.

Just to mention, I am not a political expert or commentator, nor will I ever be confident to do so because I do not have the confidence and tenacity, as do those who succeed at it. Anyway, I know that I might receive backlash and criticism for this post, but I am sure that with the opinions on social media, this post may not present as much of an impact. In which, I admire people who are able to feel liberated enough to share their political opinions in these critical and trying days.

The message will be posted below. Just a side note, I apologize for grammar, punctuation and syntax errors. I should know better considering I graduated with a Bachelor's emphasized in Mass Communications in May 2011. 😝

Speaker Ryan:

Please note: I have taken valuable time from the weekend to edit and type this message while trying to compose my anger in a respectful manner. Therefore, yes, my frustration and anger has escalated through the roof, but I digress.

Please take a few moments from your busy schedule to listen to the American people. It is refreshing to see that some of congressional constituents, (Respectively, Democrats and a few brave Republicans), who listen to Americans -- and please take note of those who practice these examples. I have tried to believe that you and some members of congress will do the right thing -- although I respectfully disagree with your opinions on policies -- to exercise good morals for Americans, but I have lost too much hope from you to regain my trust. Thanks!

Just a closing statement: And yes, I feel indefinitely livid by corporations, foreign countries and lobbyists controlling US primary and presidential elections to influence one political party to win, and that morally betrays the American people.

Stamping the Pathway: Women Plant Historical Marks

Personal note: Just to start, the topic of Women’s History Month is challenging, to balance the message and relevance of this piece, because of the fact that March has gained recognition as Women’s History Month, dated back in 1978. Throughout the course of history, an abundance of women mobilized during experiences, instances that confronted adversity based upon gender, race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic class and other classes within the societal umbrella. Respectively, many compassionate women acted as trailblazers even as many contenders questioned their integrity and intentions. However, it is certain that many women remained persistent and pushed the limits to share awareness. Another personal note: as a plethora of women have declared and acted toward powerful moments of our history, they have transcended above the fray. Personally, I admire women who defend their rights as they strive for a world of equality. From Jane Fonda, Oprah Winfrey, Gloria Steinem, Madeline Alb...

University textbooks prices can get expensive

Students who attend already know there are many expenses to pay off such as loans, tuition, room and board fees and to top it off, dreaded textbooks. Obviously, buying college textbooks can be essential for college students while enrolled in courses; however they may view buying textbooks as a penny-pinching experience. A vast majority of college students would agree, buying textbooks for classes can be a hassle; but many of us do it anyway. When professors assign textbooks for courses many students comply because they should help us learn coursework and pass classes. Although a main con of buying textbooks is sky-high prices, are there alternative resources when purchasing them? The answers maybe just near our fingertips. A few resources upon suggestion: The Chegg website is a textbook website where textbooks can be rented and shipped to a mailing address. It could be a good resource considering it allows students to rent textbooks and then mail them back to the sender. Another w...

The Inevitable -- Original Poem

It was meant to happen Someone or something unexpected  It interrupts you, discourages you It was meant to happen It has changed you, your life It has made you live for more Someone or something that was meant for you You yearn to know the reason But it remains unknown, hidden It was meant to happen It confuses you, frustrated you It has angered you, enticed you Made you feel defeated But you never gave up You strived to learn more You remained persistent, never gave up It was meant to happen Someone or something unexpected has occurred to you Don't let it go You will know it soon enough It was the inevitable
