The Beauty of Knowing Art (In More Ways Than You Think)

Art: a form or representation of an expression meant to evoke emotions, or to initiate conversations in order to gain perspectives from the creator. Indeed, art consists of many forms or it can be anything (music, portraits, paintings, production, literature, etc.), and in all its beauty, it may be animate or inanimate. I mean, let’s think about examples of artists such as Salvador Dali, Vincent van Gogh, Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert, Andy Warhol, Annie Leibovitz. They are a few of the countless artists and creators alike that we recognize in our present day. Is it funny how art is live or not and gives us the opportunity to interject our opinions? I believe that it can be a cool thing, in a way this collective beauty gathers people to converse in a beautiful way — a way that brings sentiment. Oddly enough, art composes some sort of methodology composed of odd parts, trinkets, sounds and parts that depict itself as an illustration to the world, which many people either favor or detest it. OK, so maybe that previous statement sounded a bit far-reaching or confusing, but strangely enough, art speaks or provokes us in unexpected ways.

For instance, let us think about “The Starry Night” by Vincent van Gogh. By all accounts, van Gogh has stapled his mark in history with this illustrative piece and among many of his, but possibly, it makes you pause for a moment and contemplate its meaning. There is much to admire about the cohesive culmination in its form; more so, it really evokes such a beauty that gravitates too many people, or at least to some. The blots of orange and yellow as the stars along with the dark shady blue of the twilight sky set the tone. Funny enough, this prestigious piece set a precedent of an art that captures the hearts of so many people worldwide. Nonetheless, it etches such a staple in our history.

Another example of an artist who contributes interesting formations and collections may seem like indirect art, at least by an animated form. Whenever Lady Gaga’s name circulates around the media, there are some strong and ardent opinions that associate with her name and brand. Certainly, she has been a pioneer in performing music that makes her feel comfortable to share and entertain millions yearning for her presence. Just a glance at her music video “Bad Romance” speaks for itself; it encapsulates many feelings, some of the anger, romance, provocation and happiness. The choreography, unique costumes, makeup and raunchy body language argues issues of oddities to a select few, but ultimately Lady Gaga set the bar to show that this art relates to some people and they screamed for more of her presence — all because she was fearless enough to push a vivid art that entranced millions of people.

Lastly, to emphasize another example of an artist (One of the many great ones out there) would be Andy Warhol. His collections of art range from many notable people such as Marilyn Monroe, Prince, Jackie Kennedy, Michael Jackson and that infamous Campbell’s soup can — cannot forget that one. Just the swath of colors really caught people’s attention, and from an observant eye, these color masterpieces appear effortless from his touch, but presumably, his technique seemed time-consuming and countless time. Yet he exemplifies another creator who challenged people to think outside the box and see the art world with vibrant lenses. Warhol has entrenched himself as an iconic mastermind by the repertoire of his creative art, whether from paintings or directing films.

In the end, these few artists represent many great and creative provokers who constantly give people reasons to discuss art, and how art continues to inspire or motivate us to talk more. Our loquacious tongues move as the art develops as the world evolves in front of us. Thus, performers, artists and those alike provide something that we never thought would be possible: art presents us with reasons to connect on mutual levels.

Stamping the Pathway: Women Plant Historical Marks

Personal note: Just to start, the topic of Women’s History Month is challenging, to balance the message and relevance of this piece, because of the fact that March has gained recognition as Women’s History Month, dated back in 1978. Throughout the course of history, an abundance of women mobilized during experiences, instances that confronted adversity based upon gender, race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic class and other classes within the societal umbrella. Respectively, many compassionate women acted as trailblazers even as many contenders questioned their integrity and intentions. However, it is certain that many women remained persistent and pushed the limits to share awareness. Another personal note: as a plethora of women have declared and acted toward powerful moments of our history, they have transcended above the fray. Personally, I admire women who defend their rights as they strive for a world of equality. From Jane Fonda, Oprah Winfrey, Gloria Steinem, Madeline Alb...

Students who attend already know there are many expenses to pay off such as loans, tuition, room and board fees and to top it off, dreaded textbooks. Obviously, buying college textbooks can be essential for college students while enrolled in courses; however they may view buying textbooks as a penny-pinching experience. A vast majority of college students would agree, buying textbooks for classes can be a hassle; but many of us do it anyway. When professors assign textbooks for courses many students comply because they should help us learn coursework and pass classes. Although a main con of buying textbooks is sky-high prices, are there alternative resources when purchasing them? The answers maybe just near our fingertips. A few resources upon suggestion: The Chegg website is a textbook website where textbooks can be rented and shipped to a mailing address. It could be a good resource considering it allows students to rent textbooks and then mail them back to the sender. Another w...

The Inevitable -- Original Poem

It was meant to happen Someone or something unexpected  It interrupts you, discourages you It was meant to happen It has changed you, your life It has made you live for more Someone or something that was meant for you You yearn to know the reason But it remains unknown, hidden It was meant to happen It confuses you, frustrated you It has angered you, enticed you Made you feel defeated But you never gave up You strived to learn more You remained persistent, never gave up It was meant to happen Someone or something unexpected has occurred to you Don't let it go You will know it soon enough It was the inevitable
